Full Job Description

As the Band 6 Health Advisor you will be reporting to the Lead Nurse of the department, based in Ashwood Centre, St Mary's Hospital in Kettering, Northamptonshire. However, we also operate in smaller spoke sites which include Wellingborough, Corby and Rushden. The post-holder will co-lead on the delivery of the health-advising aspect of the service at the Ashwood Centre Hub site alongside other Health Adviser colleagues based at NGH hub site. There will be responsibility for ensuring that the other members of the nursing team are trained to deliver health advice and that the advice given is consistent. This consistency will require agreements with your counterpart at our Northampton Hub to ensure there is both internal and countywide consistency. The post holder will also lead on the delivery of partner notification and support the service to contact trace to reduce infection. A key relationship to achieving this will be with the Lead for the Coding and Recall Team (CART). The post holder will still fulfil some of the nursing aspects of the generic B6 post if appropriate. There would be an expectation you would train for phlebotomy to flexibly support the clinical services.,

  • To provide information and educate to patients diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections, including explaining transmission and how to prevent or minimise the risk of infections in future.
  • To provide partner notification for patients diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections, including contacts of infection have been informed and treatment to reduce the spread of infection.
  • To provide a safe environment whereby patients can openly discuss their concerns and ask questions
  • To participate and lead on safeguarding supervisions for the team
  • To provide comprehensive assessments on vunerable patients, including young people, patients with additional needs or mental healh concerns.
  • To complete safeguarding referrals
  • To see patients face to face for testing/screening and test results.
  • To work under PGD or prescriber (if NMP) to treat patients for Sexually Transmitted infections and their contacts.
