Full Job Description

  • Open to existing employees in the Faculty of Social Sciences only, at Grade 8 and above. Workload allowance 0.5FTE (equivalent to two and a half days per week).
  • Do you have the ability to support the strategic development of research and innovation and postgraduate education in the Faculty? Are you looking for a challenging leadership position and are you passionate about strengthening postgraduate research to assure the quality of the postgraduate research student experience? The Deputy Pro Dean for Research and Innovation and Head of Graduate School will work with the Pro Dean for Research and Innovation in the delivery of the Faculty's research strategy, including the strategic development of postgraduate research. The post-holder will work with the Pro Dean for Research and Innovation to strengthen the provision of postgraduate research training and study, to maintain academic standards, to assure the quality of the postgraduate research student experience, and to work with staff and external partners to develop the international reputation of the Faculty and wider University for delivering outstanding doctoral research training. The post-holder will play a key role in developing and supporting the research environment for postgraduate researchers and work to raise the profile of postgraduate research study within the Faculty. Guiding the Faculty's postgraduate strategy and policy, the post holder will take a lead on recruitment and studentship matters for postgraduate research students, including the monitoring of recruitment, progress, examination and completion of postgraduate researcher candidatures. The post-holder will be expected to work in accordance with the University's policies, procedures, and values, and promote academic excellence.
