Full Job Description

If you’re interested in making a difference to people’s lives, the Treasury can offer you an exciting opportunity to influence decision making that affects the whole of the UK. Working at the heart of government, we collaborate across government to promote responsible public spending and drive strong and sustainable economic growth!

About the Team

The Engagement team is a welcoming, inclusive team acting as the face of The Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) within the UK and internationally. We collaborate as a close-knit group to ensure we maximise our impact. We offer exciting, stretching and varied roles that work closely with colleagues across government, the UK and internationally.

The industry engagement branch is the external face of OFSI with industry, working with a wide range of partners to make sure financial sanctions are understood, and are functioning as intended. This means the team are constantly looking for innovative ways to get OFSI’s messages to our key collaborators, be they a high street bank, a law firm, a crypto currency exchange or charity. This job isn’t just about getting OFSI’s messages out, it’s about listening too. The team forms an integral part of the feedback loop OFSI have with our partners, working alongside industry to tackle challenges together. A welcoming and friendly team.

About the Job

The successful candidate will work closely with a range of business and sectors to raise awareness and understanding of the importance of financial sanctions. Responsibilities will include attending and contributing to industry events, crafting effective communications strategies to engage new and existing audiences. You will also produce briefings for ministers and other senior colleagues ahead of sanctions-related meetings, working closely with OFSI colleagues to address queries, and proactively seeking opportunities to engage with OFSI’s audiences. The successful candidate will also lead engagement for several sectors in their own right and contribute to cross-government sanctions' strategy

While experience in financial sanctions is welcome, it is not essential for this role.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Lead relationship management with key sector/s such as finance, legal, humanitarian (exact sectors to be resolved once in post), acting as a key point of contact.
  2. Building sanctions and sectoral expertise to become a trusted adviser to partners.
  3. Identify operational issues where there may be a communications solution and taking this forward in collaboration with other members of OFSI.
  4. Lead events with key collaborators from inception to delivery.
  5. Lead on queries, helping find solutions to unusual and challenging problems.
