We are currently searching for an eager and ambitious Exhibition Sales Manager to help us establish and retain business growth opportunities which help drive sustainable financial growth for the GMA.,

  • Identifying new business opportunities, including new markets, new clients, new partnerships or new products and services

  • Building relationships with new clients, gauging their needs, and developing proposals to address these needs.

  • Maintaining and developing relationships with current clients

  • Developing networks, excellent customer relationship management and delivering first class customer care.

  • Working with CRM systems and databases, utilising data, intelligence, and insight to inform and develop sales opportunities.

  • Preparing and delivering sales presentations and contract negotiations

  • Communicating and presenting to colleagues, senior staff, and board and to external customers.

This role aims to strengthen our commercial and sales function - the successful candidate will play a leading role in the sales of GMA events, sponsorship and products & services which currently includes: SALTEX, The GMA Industry Awards, #Groundsweek, GMA Webinars, Corporate Membership and GMA members events. Our Commercial and Events team is central to industry engagement, helping suppliers and businesses connect with our network of members.

    The GMA is the UK's leading industry body for the grounds care sector. A not-for-profit membership organisation promoting and protecting the interests of professional and volunteer grounds people who make sport possible by keeping green spaces and playing surfaces safe, accessible, and sustainable across educational establishments, community facilities, and sports clubs at grassroot, amateur, and elite professional level.

    SALTEX is the brand name of the exhibition owned and operated by the GMA with all profits supporting the GMA's provision and delivery of the industry training, education and membership services.

    Our ideal candidate will be able to implement an effective sales and growth approach that expands our reach and strengthens member and client relationships. They will also actively seek out other business opportunities that can boost revenue and set our organisation apart.

    This role is a great opportunity for a motivated and highly experienced sales/business development professional with a successful track record of over-achieving sales targets accompanied with a strong understanding of marketing, technology, and product.

    Reporting to the Commercial, Membership & Events Director, the successful candidate will help develop and execute a business development strategy as well as implement protocol and processes to build relationships with new and existing clients, maximising key relationships to create synergies, alliances, and opportunities. They will lead on the sales strategy to promote and sell exhibition stands and sponsorship packages in our flagship exhibition SALTEX which attracts over 8000 visitors over 2 days.

    They will have solid experience (typically between 7-10 years with 3 years at a general management level) in sales/business development with a proven track record of achieving (£m+) sales targets. This experience should include solid event experience and working knowledge of trade shows, awards, membership associations and/or the groundscare sector. Additionally, they will demonstrate critical thinking, strong business acumen and negotiation skills, as well as exceptional communications skills.

    Circa salary of £49.5K inclusive of a car allowance, plus performance related bonus, pension, employee assistance programme, life assurance cover, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and Christmas closure
