Full Job Description

We require an experienced Energy Advice Worker to join our Caritas Energy Saving Service to provide energy information, advice and support to households experiencing fuel poverty in deprived communities of Greater Manchester so that they can:

Reduce energy consumption by employing energy-saving measures
Reduce the cost of energy bills through being on the right tariff etc
Improve mental and physical health and well-being by reducing the effects of fuel poverty

You will deliver one-to-one advice work information sessions and run advice drop-in surgeries in Caritas' community services in Hulme, Bury and Collyhurst, as well as continued one-to-one advice support for people in the area.

The advice work will be delivered face to face, but this will also include telephone/online sessions, some home visits, as well as presentations. To ensure that the service is available to the whole community, you will work with interpreters (spoken language and British sign language)., Caritas follows Safer Recruitment practices, and this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check. The role requires travel to other Caritas services. A full UK driving licence with the use of a car insured for business purposes would be useful but is not essential. Travel expenses can be claimed.

The role requires you to have excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively on a one-to-one basis, as well as in a team. You must be able to work independently and proactively using your own initiative to make appropriate decisions for the most positive outcomes. Additionally, you will have knowledge of advice work, good IT and administration skills.

There will be an opportunity to secure a Level 3 City and Guild qualification in Energy Awareness, therefore a willingness to secure this will need to be demonstrated. Caritas will fund the training., Disability Confident

About the job

This is a fixed term contract until 30 June 2027.

The hours of the role are 22.5 per week, hours are to be worked between Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm.

The full time salary for the role is £34,234 per annum, actual salary for 22.5 hours is £20,540 per annum.
