1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism Support (Year 1) Full-time | Monday-Friday | 8:30am-3:30pm | Start date: 19th January We are working with a welcoming and supportive primary school who are looking for a kind, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This role will involve providing 1:1 support for a child with autism who finds the mainstream classroom environment challenging at times. A large part of your day will be spent working with the child outside of the classroom in a calm breakout space, helping them to regulate, engage with learning and feel safe, understood and supported. There may also be opportunities during the day to support two Year 3 pupils, working closely with the class teacher and wider support staff. The role:
- Providing consistent 1:1 support for a child with autism
- Supporting learning and emotional regulation in a breakout space
- Helping the child develop confidence, communication and independence
- Using a calm, nurturing and flexible approach throughout the day
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCO and support staff
- Supporting additional pupils when required We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children with autism or additional needs (school or care-based experience welcome)
- Is patient, compassionate and resilient
- Can build strong, trusting relationships with children
- Understands that progress looks different for every child
