Full Job Description
Direct Entry Detective Constable
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary
The Direct Entry Detective Constable (DEDC) programme offers a unique opportunity to become an accredited detective within just two years, with initial training starting in November 2026. This challenging and rewarding programme is only open for a limited time each year, allowing us to select the strongest candidates and provide focused support throughout your development. The DEDC pathway is highly competitive, with a limited number of places available. If you meet the core requirements of a Police Constable but are not selected for the DEDC programme, you may still have the option to progress via the PC pathway and achieve detective accreditation within three years through our internal routes. There is no need to submit a separate application for the PC pathway.
