Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse - Renal / Nephrology

The NNKC delivers nurse-led care for patients requiring haemodialysis. Operated by Fresenius in partnership with the NHS, the centre is a modern, state-of-the-art facility that has been established for six years. The Kidney Centre currently supports up to 100 haemodialysis patients per day. It is staffed by a friendly, dedicated, and highly committed nursing team, led by Senior Sister Emily Dicker, with medical oversight provided by a Consultant from Norwich. The Centre forms part of the wider Norfolk Renal Services network, which includes the inpatient renal ward at NNUH and the outpatient haemodialysis unit in Cromer. In this role, you will lead the outpatient haemodialysis service, working closely with the Renal Matron and senior nursing colleagues across Langley Ward, the Home Therapy Team, and the satellite dialysis unit in Cromer. You will guide a dynamic and forward-thinking team, fostering the development of their skills, knowledge, and overall workplace experience-ultimately ensuring the highest standard of care and outcomes for patients. As the post holder, you will provide clinical and operational leadership within the outpatient haemodialysis unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care. You will be responsible for coordinating daily activity, managing staff and resources effectively, and maintaining a positive, supportive environment for both patients and colleagues. You will lead and develop a skilled nursing team, promoting continuous professional development, maintaining clinical standards, and ensuring compliance with Trust policies and best practice guidelines. Working collaboratively with the Renal Matron, multidisciplinary teams, and partner organisations, you will contribute to the ongoing improvement of renal services across the wider network.,

• Assist the Ward/ Department manager in maintaining standards of nursing practice.
• Carry out and advise/ supervise junior staff in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluating of nursing care.
• Carry out daily personal care of patients.
• To take charge of the clinical area in the absence of the Ward/ Department Sister/ Charge Nurse.
• To ensure the patient administration systems e.g. PAS are updated to ensure real time data collection and confidentiality.
• To ensure the effective use of information technology for the benefit of patient care in accordance with the Trust's Cyber Code of Conduct.
• To ensure the confidentiality of information (written, verbal, electronic) is maintained, whilst being aware of the Freedom of Information Act.
• To co-ordinate and monitor the progress of patients within the plan of care and to promptly and effectively communicate relevant changes in patient status to the multi-disciplinary team.
• Effectively communicate complex, sensitive or contentious information to the multi-disciplinary team gaining their co-operation.
  
  Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills are essential, alongside a commitment to delivering compassionate care and driving service excellence. The ability to make sound clinical and operational decisions in a fast-paced environment is key to success in this role., Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and work within limits of competence.
