Are you passionate about turning data into meaningful insights? Do you thrive in a collaborative environment where your work directly supports student success? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Join the University of Brighton as a Data Analyst (Student Systems and Data). You will closely work with the Data and Reporting Manager, as well as academic schools and departments across the University. You'll help deliver critical statutory returns such as HESA Student, DfE ITT, and HESES. Your work will ensure these are submitted accurately and on time, supporting the University's compliance and strategic planning. As the successful applicant, you may be deployed across the institution to support data analysis as required during the year.

Using tools like SITS (our student record system), along with a suite of statistical, visualisation, and reporting platforms, you'll dive deep into student data—validating, analysing, and transforming it into actionable insights that inform key decisions across the institution. You should be committed to delivering a high standard of customer service, be proactive and solution-oriented in your approach, and have the ability to communicate effectively with a range of colleagues and external stakeholders. You will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality data and reporting service providing accurate, timely, and accessible data, as well as taking an active role in responding to frequent changes in internal and external requirements.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience of working with complex databases
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office as well as third party reporting tools
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills
  • The ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships with colleagues across the university

This is a full-time, permanent post; however, job-sharers are welcome to apply. The role is based on our Moulsecoomb campus, but hybrid working options will be considered in line with our framework.

Further details:

The University is committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive environment for all staff regardless of age, disability, family or caring responsibilities, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief (including non-belief), sex and sexual orientation. We embrace equality and diversity in our working, learning, research and teaching environment and are committed to maintaining a supportive and inclusive community. We particularly encourage applicants from Minority Ethnic backgrounds because the University is under-represented by Minority Ethnic staff.

For the vast majority of our roles, we operate an agile working system with time split between working on campus and at the employee's home. It is the University's expectation that home working will take place within the UK. Further information about working for us, as well as the wide range of benefits we offer, can be found in the University of Brighton.
