Are you passionate about community spaces, lifelong learning, and helping people connect? We're looking for a friendly, proactive Community Library Assistant to join our welcoming team at Warboys Library. Warboys Library is a valued local space with a strong community focus. Warboys library is single-staffed but supported by a dedicated group of volunteers, creating a close knit and collaborative environment. From supporting readers and digital learners to delivering activities to both children and adults. No two days are the same and your work will make a real difference. We are passionate about creating a warm and welcoming space and developing a life long love of reading within our community. This post is based at Warboys Library for 15.50 hours pw. This is a single staffed library. Please see timetable attached for working pattern. This roles involves some weekend and evening working. Warboys Library is part of a wider team which includes libraries in St Ives and Ramsey. Travel may be necessary from time to time., Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, along with our employee network 'IDEAL' and self-organised peer support groups help us to foster an inclusive, supportive and safe working environment where people feel valued, respected, and empowered. Warboys Library is a single staffed library, confidence to work on your own is essential as are excellent communication skills. There are opportunities to support and deliver Library events for both adults and children. This could include Rhymetime, Storytime and Engage events. Although there is plenty of routine work, there are also many opportunities to be creative. Library experience is an advantage. However, we would love to hear from candidates who have demonstrated exceptional customer service skills in other contexts. Training will be given on specific library systems, but an ability to work with IT is essential. The successful candidate will be passionate about what public libraries can offer, and able to promote our services both within the library and in the wider community,
- Demonstrate your understanding of delivering good customer service
- Interpersonal skills, including patience and listening skills with an ability to establish exactly what the customer requires
- A good knowledge of the Internet and a demonstrable capacity to assess the value of the information found there
- A pleasant, helpful manner with customers of all ages and abilities.
- A strong team player, able to work with colleagues on projects and contribute to team goals
- Flexibility and adaptability in all areas of work.
- An ability to work under pressure
- An ability to work with limited supervision.
