Full Job Description
As a clinical systems developer working as part of the EPR programme team in digital you will be responsible for design and development activities associated with the Trust EPR solution across architecture domains (business, applications and data). Reporting to the development manager you will work closely alongside other developers to create and enact the future vision for the organisation in terms of digital innovation and implementation, most notably contributing to the aim of becoming a digital hospital. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring the successful scoping and delivery of EPR development work, providing direction, guidance, expert knowledge and governance when needed to the delivery teams. The post holder will work closely with the CXIO's and clinical safety officers in the organisation, ensuring the functionality is fit for purpose, clinically safe and appropriate. The work will entail the use of a range of technologies along an open, standards-based approach to deliver the development of electronic data capture forms and correspondence templates. You will develop and maintain Javascript code with support of HTML, CSS and jQuery to integrate with system configuration and support clinical pathways, Act as a specialist point of contact for EPR development and provide support and influence to Trust stakeholders, to ensure the configuration and build remain consistent and supported. Take the lead on resolving configuration issues and escalating any risks or issues, initiating corrective action for responsible projects Build and nurture key relationships and networks with a varied range of audiences including both internal and external stakeholders Translate documented requirements into high- and low-level solution designs, working closely with subject matter experts and third-party system suppliers. Analyse business requirements for clarity, feasibility and technical viability reporting through to the relevant team and board. Analyses organisational requirements and evaluates and selects appropriate technical solutions, completing functional specification and gaining approval through appropriate governance. Ensure designs are output based and data collection will meet the reporting and national requirements of the Trust Ensure that content meets prevailing national standards and legislative requirements. Ensure that the configuration, verification (checking) and validation (sign-off) of clinical decision support (CDS) functionality is undertaken completely and follow best practice, prevailing evidence and Trust guiding principles. Work collaboratively with other NHS organisations in the region, with consideration for design and build of a single solution. Line management responsibility for the configuration developers within the team, including prioritising the workload team members, monitoring against deadlines, and providing expertise. Ensuring all staff are appropriately trained, escalating any significant issues to the EPR Development Manager. Working closely with the business analysts ensuring that proposed solutions meet the documented set of requirements, and the functionality available in the system. Working closely with the project management function, provide assurance that implemented solutions match the proposed design and are fit for purpose with reference to the documented set of requirement
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced systems person to join the EPR programme delivery team. The role will require an enthusiastic and analytical person with a desire to succeed. The role will focus on the technical elements of configuration, including development of pathways, assessments, forms and reviewing future technologies with a view to optimise workflow. JavaScript skills will be required in this role.,
- Education to degree level or equivalent experience, Professional Registration and Membership (BCS, AphA, IHRIM, CHIME), Significant NHS IT working experience
- Extensive exposure and knowledge of NHS systems including patient administration systems and clinical systems
- Experience in development using Java Script, HTML, jQuery and CSS
- Significant experience of working with third party suppliers
- Experience of working with operational teams and reviewing full end to end processes with a focus on digital systems design Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of SQL, Ability to work collaboratively with staff of all disciplines to promote and develop service improvement projects
- Able to research, interpret and present highly complex information in a clear and logical manner
- Ability to accurately estimate configuration and development effort required from requirements and solution design documentation
- Organised and logical approach to work and high level attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage time/set priorities
- Understanding of principles and practices of good system design
- Ability to articulate multiple technical solutions to business problems, making recommendations as to the best course of action, identifying risks and benefits in each case Desirable criteria
- Ability to work in multiple delivery styles (e.g. agile, iterative, waterfall)
