We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Imaging department management team. Thepost,Clinical Manager - Plain Film X-RayisaLeadrolewithinourorganisation who will assisttheHeadofImaging inthedeliveryofahighqualityandefficient plain film X-ray service that meetstheneedsoftheTrust andwiderhealthcarecommunity. Contributesto thedeliveryofoutstandingpatientcareby: · ManagingandleadahighqualityPlain Film X-Rayservice. · RepresenttheImagingdepartmentinmulti-disciplinarymeetings andcommitteesanddeputisefortheHeadofImaging. · Organiseandparticipateinradiographer post-graduatetraining. · Takealeadroleinaudit,researchandqualityassurance. · PromoteServiceImprovementandradiographerskills developmenttomaintainandadvancecapacityandcapability. · Take a lead role in Clinical Governance for the Plain Film x-ray modality and contribute to clinical governance of the whole department. · To be a consistent presence in Plain Film X-Ray during the working week, supporting staff and occasionally visiting and working at satellite departments. The Clinical Manager - Plain Film X-Ray will not work out-of-hours as part of their core role. • WorkcloselywiththeEmergencyDepartmenttomaintainandimprovethe service andcontinuetomeettargets.Fosterrelationshipswithotherclinicalteamstoensuregoodcommunicationandamultidisciplinaryapproach.
Activelypromoteanddeveloptheradiographyservice,incorporatingtechnicaladvancestoadvancedpractice,improvediagnostictechniques,appropriateskillmixandimprovepatientpathways. Organiseandparticipateinstaffappraisalandpersonaldevelopmentplanning. Monitorandmanageradiographersandassistants'absence,leaveandhoursworked,ensuringtheapplicationofTrustanddepartmentalpoliciesandthatmandatorycoursesareattended. Dealwithdisciplinaryissues,formalandinformalcomplaintsconcerningthePlain Film Imaging Department. ManageHealthandSafetyforownarea,ensuringallappropriateRiskAssessmentsarecompleted,documentedanddiscussedwiththeHeadofImaging. Ensurethatregularstockcontroliscarriedout,anddepartmenthasmaterialstoprovidedaytodayservice ManageandparticipateinthesystemforevaluationandprioritisationofPlain Film X-Rayreferrals,authorisingorrejectingasappropriate.Adviseonpatientpreparation.Dealwithinappropriaterequestsorinadequateinformationinformingreferrertherequestiscancelled,documentfollowingdepartmentpolicy.Developmonitoringanddocumentationsystemforallrequeststhatfailthejustificationprocess. Takeresponsibilityforresolvingproblemswithappointingpatientswithinexistingresources., Ensure optimumpatientfollow-up commensurate withexamfindings i.e.advise patientsof routinesystemsforobtainingresults,advisewhenfurtherinvestigationsortertiaryreferralareneeded,and arrangehospitaladmissionorexpediteoutpatientappointmentswherenecessary. Whereappropriate,conveyexamresultstopatientsandtheirpartners/relativesinamannerwhichtheycanunderstandandwhichminimisesdistress.E.g.advisepatientortheircarerthatanexaminationdoesnothavenegativefindings(e.g.detectionofcancer)andprovideappropriateadviceandsupport. Deviseappropriatestrategiestoconveycomplexissuestopatients,andthoseresponsibleforthem,whomayhavecommunicationproblems,e.g.learningdifficulties,physicalimpairmentandminors. Communicateexaminationresultstoarangeofreferrersbothverbally,inwriting,and/orelectronicallyasconsideredappropriate. Provideexpertadvicetoarange ofhealthcareprofessionals. CarryoutthedutiesofaRadiationProtectionSupervisorandassisttheRPAwiththecompilingandwritingtheTrust'sMagnetSafetyPolicy,RadiationProtectionpolicy,inclusiveoftheIonisingRadiation(MedicalExposure)Regulations(IR(ME)R2024)andIonisingRadiationRegulations(IRR17)andensurestaffandvisitor suchasengineerscomplywiththeLocalRules. AssistinthemaintenanceandreviewoftheDepartment'spoliciesandproceduresrelatingtoradiationprotectionandservicedeliverywhichimpactacrosstheTrust. TakeresponsibilityfortheuseandcareofawiderangeofPlain Film X-Ray Equipment.Organiseequipmentservice,repairandQA. Takeresponsibilityforrecognisinginadequaciesinexistingequipmentandformulatingbusinessplansforreplacementoradditionalpurchases.Organiseandparticipateintheevaluationandselectionofapplication-specificequipment. DemonstratecompetenceinITsystemsoperatingintheTrust,anduseoftheInternet,inordertomaintainaccuratedataentry,patientinformationacquisition,reportgeneration,communicationandaccesstoresearchdata. ProvidespecialistpracticalandtheoreticaltraininginPlain Film X-Ray procedures,toqualifiedandundergraduateradiographicstaffundertakingvariousrecognisedqualifications. Superviseandundertakeassessmentsoftrainees,finallymakingjudgementsaboutcompetencetopracticeindependentlywhentheirfindingsmayaffectpatientmanagement.Beaccountableforworkcarriedoutunder your supervision. Assistinthetraining oflessexperiencedradiographersinareasofadvancedpractice.Providesupportandmentorshiptoradiographicpractitionersfromalldisciplines. ParticipateinthetrainingofRadiographicAssistants. Beaccountableforownprofessionalactivities,involvingahighdegreeofautonomy,withinthelimitsofpersonalcompetence. EngageinCPDaspertherequirementsofprofessionalcodeofconduct,andundertakefurtherpost-graduatespecialisttrainingtofulfiltheneedsofadevelopingservice.FacilitatetheCPDrequirementsofthePlain Film X-Rayteam. Workwithinandcontributetoevidence-basedprotocolsandguidelines.Wheninadequaciesintheseareidentified,takeremedialaction. Takealeadroleinauditanddepartmentalresearch.
