Full Job Description

A Vacancy at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This post will provide dedicated clinical coordination and service capacity within the Fertility Preservation (FP) and Late Effects Service at UCLH, a nationally significant service and NHSE-designated hub for the Ovarian and Testicular Tissue Cryopreservation (OTTC) programme for the South of England. The service manages a high volume of complex referrals, including urgent cases requiring rapid assessment and intervention prior to gonadotoxic treatment, as well as paediatric, adolescent and adult patients across a wide regional and national network. The Clinical Fellow will act as a key point of contact for referring clinicians, patients and carers, supporting the end-to-end coordination of the fertility preservation pathway. This includes triage and management of urgent referrals, coordination of investigations and surgical procedures, facilitation of MDT discussions, preparation of case summaries, and oversight of treatment planning across hub and spoke sites. The role is central to ensuring timely progression from referral to treatment, particularly in time-critical oncology pathways where delays may impact the ability to proceed with cancer treatment. The post-holder will support delivery of fertility preservation outpatient clinics, contributes to multidisciplinary working across oncology, haematology, paediatrics and reproductive medicine, and works closely with laboratory, nursing and administrative teams to ensure safe and efficient pathway delivery. The role also includes maintaining the FP database, supporting audit, quality assurance and regulatory compliance requirements within a highly specialised, nationally commissioned service. In addition, the post contributes to the wider Reproductive Medicine Unit, supporting IVF and endocrine services, further enhancing service flexibility and capacity. Collectively, this activity supports key operational targets including:

  • Rapid access to fertility preservation prior to gonadotoxic treatment
  • Timely coordination across regional hub-and-spoke OTTC network pathways
  • MDT efficiency and decision-making timelines
  • Reduction in delays to cancer and other primary treatments
  • Delivery of a seamless pathway from diagnosis through to long-term follow-up and late effects care
  • The post will be funded by NHSE as part of the commissioned fertility preservation service, providing targeted resource to support delivery of a complex, time-critical and nationally significant pathway without additional financial pressure to the Trust.
