Full Job Description
We have a new opportunity for an efficient and enthusiastic person to join the Burnsand Plastics Occupational Therapy team as a Clinical Support Worker. The rolewill both clinical and administrative in nature, but you will be working within a clinicalsetting where you will be required to interact with patients on a daily basis. You will bea key player in the day to day running of our service and the support you offer to ourclinicians and patients.
The Burns and Plastics Service is a regional leader for adult and children's burnsservices in the East Midlands. We are a small, friendly team who work across bothpaediatrics and adult services, and are privileged to work with patients throughout theirtreatment journey from inpatient to outpatient, with a focus on scar management andrehabilitation.
This role will be based within the Splint Room at City Hospital Campus as this is ouroffice space and team space, and we would need the successful candidate to worktheir hours ideally over 4 days of the week., In this role you will need to demonstrate initiative, flexibility and skills related to a wide variety of clinical administrative and clerical tasks. Your main areas of work will be managing and coordinating diaries, booking appointments, producing GP prescription letters, answering the phone and fielding clinical enquiries appropriately, and supporting the team and the service. You will be responsible for screening photo submissions of scarring via our photographic communication system, ISLA care. You may also be required to act as a second person within some patient treatment sessions.
Your daily tasks will be very varied as we cover a wide range of out-patient clinics across both campuses, in addition to providing ward cover for all burns and plastics patients at NUH residing for in-patient care. Responsibilities will include competent use of a number of hospital systems so you can lead on daily clinic preparation, manage bookings, and maintain clinical equipment and stock management. Due to the nature of the services and potential vulnerabilities of the patient group, excellent communication skills are essential as you will liaise with the wider multidisciplinary team and a potentially vulnerable group of patients to help coordinate care.
