Set up of the Automated Peritoneal dialysis. Manual Peritoneal dialysis. Observations / stock taking / clinical disposal of waste / dialysis related dressings. Liaising with the trained renal team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

You must hold a current valid UK driving licence as the service is community-based and you must be able to travel the homes of patients across East & West Berkshire.,

  • Successful completion of Trust's Band 2 Developmental passport or ability to demonstrate equivalent level of competence
  • Desirable criteria
  • NVQ / QCF level 3 in Health or Health and Social Care
  • Completion of Care Certificate, Experience as Healthcare assistant within an acute hospital environment or equivalent setting
  • Reliable work / study record, Hold a current valid UK driving licence as service is community-based

    This is a part-time post for 20 hours per week. This post is hybrid- working within the community at the homes of patients, and also based within our Home Therapy team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital site - the service includes visiting the homes of patients across East & West Berkshire. The majority of your time will be spent within the homes of patients providing practical support / setting up automated peritoneal dialysis (PD) machines and all the clinical care around this. The renal replacement therapy is carried out either 4 x daily manually, or, overnight by an automated machine. It is a life saving treatment that is required every day - the service is therefore required to run 365 days a year and so will involve some weekend / bank holiday working. The roll involves undertaking PD related care - such as machine set ups, observations, patient weights, machine set-ups, blood taking, dialysis related dressings, stock takes. There is some flexible working, but the care must be provided within the hours of approximately 9am -2pm., Staff Benefits
