37 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks) Help power the next generation of automotive talent! Are you a hands-on automotive professional who takes pride in a well-run workshop? Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge and supporting others to develop their skills? We're looking for an enthusiastic Automotive Technician to join our team at Truro & Penwith College. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine your practical expertise with a rewarding role supporting students and staff in a busy learning environment. About the role As an Automotive Technician, you'll play a key role in keeping our workshops running efficiently and safely, ensuring everything is in place for high-quality teaching and learning. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students and staff with practical activities in the automotive workshop
- Preparing, setting up, and maintaining tools, vehicles, and equipment
- Ensuring the workshop environment is safe, clean, and ready for use at all times
- Managing stock, equipment, and materials, including ordering and inventory control
- Carrying out basic fault finding, testing, and repairs
- Supporting small groups of learners to develop practical skills
- Maintaining high standards of health & safety and compliance About you You'll be practical, organised, and approachable, with a genuine interest in helping others succeed. You will have:
- Experience working within the automotive industry
- A Level 2 qualification in Automotive Engineering (or similar)
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills It would be great if you also have:
- Experience in an educational or technician role
- L2 Risk assessment, Health & Safety and COSHH training, willingness to work toward these and training will be provided Why join us?
