Rate of Pay: £Competitive 

Location: Ocean, Exmouth

LED Leisure Management Ltd (LED) is a Social Enterprise that provides a range of diverse cultural, sporting and physical activities throughout East Devon and South Somerset.   

‘Ocean’ is a family entertainment facility that offers an extensive food and beverage offering; a  bar and grill restaurant, café on the first floor and large function suite operating as an impressive venue for weddings, conferences and events.  

We are now seeking a Sous Chef to join our dynamic organisation at a time of significant change and growth.  You will have experience of working in a busy service kitchen, providing a consistently high standard of cooking to specification.  You must be able to work well under pressure to meet the demands of the business and be a team player.

Job purpose

Deputise for the Head Chef in their absence.  Assist in the running of the kitchen and allied areas producing food throughout the facility in accordance with operational and statutory requirements, striving to deliver the highest level of customer and staff satisfaction. 

Essential attributes

  • BTEC or NVQ level 2 equivalent in Hospitality Management or professional cookery

  • Level 2 Food Safety

  • Professional chef experience in a similar environment

  • Experience in stock control and maintaining records

  • Knowledge of health, safety and hygiene regulations and procedures

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Time management skills

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team 

    Desirable attributes

  • Current First Aid at Work Certificate

  • Knowledge of menu planning & costing

  • Leadership skills

  • Good general education

  • IT experience including Word, Excel & Email applications
