Location: Harpenden, Herts
Based in the modern Centenary Building, a vacancy exists in the Plant Biology and Crop Science Department, to provide essential support to Research Scientists. Working closely with another member of departmental support, this role ensures that the laboratories and their resources (including glassware) are cleaned, sterilized and maintained. Additional responsibilities include preparing sterile culture media for research scientists, collection and disposal of laboratory waste, ordering of, and restocking communal supplies. General cleaning of lab and kitchen areas.
The successful candidate will ideally be educated to GCSE standard and will have experience of laboratory or similar work. You must be flexible in your approach, be able to follow both verbal and written instructions, particularly with regard to safety and possess the ability to communicate with staff at all levels. The ability to prioritise and work independently is essential as is the physical aspects of the role.
This is a 2 year part-time role based on 20 hours per with a starting salary normally in the region of £15,144 and £16,726 per annum (f8,185.94 and £9,041.08 per annum pro-rata).
