Hackney Homes is looking for Gas Engineers to help us maintain the properties we look after. We manage over 30,000 properties on behalf of Hackney Council. Your role will be to help make sure these homes are safe and maintained to a high standard for the people who live in them.
As a Gas Engineer, you will be installing and helping to maintain domestic gas boilers in properties across Hackney and sometimes in other areas. You will be responsible to ensure heating and hot water systems are safe and working efficiently. You may also need to do some other repairs like minor plumbing, electrical or finishing works to support our service to tenants. Some of these homes will be lived in, but you will also be helping us prepare others for their new occupants.
Some of this work is physically demanding, you may need to climb ladders and lift heavy objects. You will need to apply common sense to your work be able to manage your time and take pride in your work. You will need experience in repairs and maintenance perhaps for a Housing Association, Local Authority or as a contractor working in tenant’s homes. You need to hold a full, clean, UK driving licence as we will provide you with a work vehicle. You should have City and Guilds in Heating and Ventilation or NVQ Level 3 equivalent or relevant experience. You need ACS qualifications CCN1, CEN1, HTR1, WAT1, CKR1, MET1, City and Guilds 6084 Energy Efficiency. Ideally you will also have Part P Electrical and Warm Air Units DAH1, Unvented Hot Water and Boiler Management Systems (TREND). You will also need to have IT skills as you may be using a hand held device to record your work.
