Hackney Homes is looking for Electricians to help us maintain the properties we look after. We manage over 30,000 properties on behalf of Hackney Council. Your role will be to help make sure these homes are safe and maintained to a high standard for the people who live in them.
You will be working in properties across Hackney and sometimes in other areas. Your role will include wiring and rewiring properties landlord circuits, repairing fittings and accessories like light switches, power sockets, cooker points and heating controls. You will also be doing regular electrical inspection, testing and verification work and completing any relevant paperwork to make sure we comply with current legislation.
You will be helping prepare empty properties for their new occupants as well as working on properties that are lived in. You may work on a scheduled maintenance or planned works programme or on responsive repairs covering scheduled or emergency appointments mainly in tenanted homes. Some of this work is physically demanding, you may need to climb ladders and lift heavy objects. You will need to apply common sense to your work be able to manage your time and take pride in your work. You will need experience in repairs and maintenance perhaps for a Housing Association, Local Authority or as a contractor working in tenant’s homes. You need to hold a full, clean, UK driving licence as we will provide you with a work vehicle. You should have City and Guilds Level 3 in Electrotechnical Technology or relevant experience. Ideally you will also have City and Guilds 2382 Level 3, 17th edition Electrical Installation City and Guilds 2391 Level 3. You will also need to have IT skills as you may be using a hand held device to record your work.
