Hackney Homes is looking for someone to help us maintain the properties we look after. We manage over 30,000 properties on behalf of Hackney Council. Your role will be to help make sure these homes are maintained to a high standard for the people who live in them.
You will be working on properties across Hackney and sometimes in other areas. Some of these homes will be occupied, but you will also be helping us prepare others for their new occupants. To be able to do this work, you will need excellent carpentry and joinery skills. Your role will include the installation and repairs to doors, windows and kitchen units. You will be required to carry out forced entries, install ducting panels and other associated carpentry works. Some plumbing skills will be required to install complete sink units and you also will need to be able to do making good to walls and tiling if required and apply paint to wooden materials as required.
Some of this work is physically demanding, you may need to climb ladders and lift heavy objects. You will need to apply common sense to your work, be able to manage your time and take pride in what you do. In return you will get great opportunities for training, generous annual leave and the opportunity to earn up to £39k on a performance related pay. You will need experience in repairs and maintenance perhaps for a Housing Association, Local Authority or as a contractor working in tenants’ homes. You need to hold a full, clean, UK driving licence as we will provide you with a work vehicle. You should have a City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry or have relevant experience. You will also need to have IT skills as you may be using a hand held device to record your work.
At Hackney, we go that extra mile for our residents; we offer a work environment which is stimulating, fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high profile organisation.
