Proposed Interview Date: W/C 18th August 2025The roleWe are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team, to develop and implement a robust and visionary funding strategy. The Head of Philanthropy and Funding Strategy will be responsible for securing at least £200,000 annually through a diverse portfolio of income streams including grant funders, commissioners, corporate partners, and philanthropists.This is a strategic and hands-on role that requires strong relationship-building, income generation, and leadership skills.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising and income generation strategy aligned with NCRC's mission and strategic goals.
- Lead all major donor and grant fundraising activities, building strong, long-term relationships with trusts, foundations, individual philanthropists, and statutory funders.
- Research, identify and apply to funding opportunities and commissioning frameworks that align with our work and priorities.
- Build and manage a pipeline of funding prospects, ensuring income targets are met or exceeded (£200,000 per annum initially).
- Represent NCRC externally, positioning the organisation with key stakeholders, funders, networks, and policy makers.
- Work closely with the Communications and Programme teams to ensure that funding proposals and impact reporting are aligned, compelling, and outcomes-driven.
- Produce high-quality funding applications, cases for support, reports, and stewardship communications.
- Manage budgets related to fundraising activities and report on financial performance and forecasts to the Managing Director and Trustees.
- Support a culture of philanthropy across the organisation and contribute to a collaborative and ambitious leadership team.
You must have proven experience in securing six-figure funding from grant funders, commissioners or philanthropists. - You'll have strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate vision into action.
- You have demonstrable success in building and maintaining long term funder and partner relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience of writing high impact proposals and reports.
- You'll have an understanding of funding and commissioning in the public and third sectors.
- You can work collaboratively within a small, values-led team with a resilient, ambitious and proactive solution focused approach.
- Knowledge of the community development, housing or social justice sectors is advantageous.
- Experience working in or with social enterprises or charities with a training or capacity-building focus is also advantageous.
