You will have the opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of young adults aged 16-24 who are caring for family members who have a long term illness or disability. You will ideally have experience and/or qualifications of working with this age group enabling you to be a part of this new and exciting Big Lottery funded project.
You will be able to work on your own initiative, be based at home and must have use of your own car, for which mileage allowance is paid.
The project will involve helping Young Adult Carers (aged 16-24) in their transition through adulthood. The focus is on individualised services for Young Adult Carers centring on improving their self-esteem, confidence, wellbeing and opportunities for education and volunteering. The project will also emphasise social inclusion through helping Young Adult Carers to organise social groups and arranging outings to ensure they get a break from their caring role. You will be offering one to one support and organising activities leading to positive outcomes for young adult carers and their families. You will be prepared to work some late afternoons and evenings and have use of a reliable car.
