INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS FOR THE POST OF OPERATIONS MANAGER (Post Ref 3540)

The Post

This new full time, permanent post as part of the Sixth Form Centre Management Team is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and effective manager. Working with the Head of Centre, two Curriculum Managers and the Student Support Manager, you will ensure that a range of operational processes and events are efficient and effective in helping teachers provide an excellent service to students.

Specific responsibilities are varied and include: organising events such as open evenings and parents’ evenings, extracting and collating numerical data for other managers and teachers, monitoring budgets, ensuring high health and safety standards and line managing our technicians.

The successful candidate will be educated to at least Level 3 and have significant administrative, supervisory and/or managerial experience, possibly in an educational environment. He or she will be able to undertake the tasks identified in the job description, sometimes several at once and to tight deadlines, to use initiative and solve problems and to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues inside and outside the Sixth Form Centre.

We recognise that he or she may not be able to carry out all parts of the role immediately and we will provide training in any areas where it is needed.

The Sixth Form Centre

City College’s Sixth Form Centre, opened in September 2007, represents a key strategic decision by the College to develop and expand its academic provision for young people in Norwich and Norfolk. With around 450 mainly full time 16-18 year old students, the Centre is one of the largest providers of AS, A Level and post-16 GCSE courses in Norfolk.

Key features of the Centre include:
• A strong identity as a specialist and expert provider of academic education for full time 16-18 year old students
• Accessibility to a wide range of students, with a minimum entry requirement of five A*-C grades at GCSE for A Level programmes
• A wide range of courses, combined flexibly to meet individual students’ needs

The Sixth Form Centre is part of City College Norwich, a large college of further and higher education, and is based on the College’s main campus close to Norwich city centre.
