MIDDLE LEVEL COMMISSIONERS
ASSISTANT OPERATIONS ENGINEER
(Salary Guide £28,947 - £31,062 dependant on capability)
The Middle Level Commissioners manage flood protection and navigation through
the operation and maintenance of pumping stations, locks, sluices and 120 miles of
open watercourse within an area that spans from the A1, south of Peterborough in the
west, to Salters Lode at Downham Market in the east. In addition the Commissioners
provide management services for some 28 local Internal Drainage Boards within and
around its area.
We are seeking a self-motivated person to assist in the management of the operations
side of the Commissioners' activities. Ideally you will have proven relevant
experience gained with a consultant, contractor, flood defence authority, local
authority or public utility. The post will require a high degree of self-reliance and will
require good personnel management skills. You will also be required to contribute
using both written and verbal communication and keep comprehensive records. Basic
understanding of computers and knowledge of flood defence operations would be of
advantage, although not essential. A clean driving licence will be required.
The position offers a competitive salary, and an essential user's car allowance or use
of a company provided vehicle, a minimum of 25 days annual leave plus public
holidays and the opportunity to apply to join a pension scheme.
